First a little background:
Keith (age 14) spent the night Friday night at a friend's birthday party. Bless the boy's mother - she hosted 6 boys for an overnight party!! They didn't go to sleep until 6:30 am, so she let them sleep until noon. Then she sent them on their way. Keith and Michael went to the Epic Center (our church extention) because Michael's mother was having a sale there. They hung out for a while and then went in the youth room and sacked out on the couches and slept from 2:30-6:00. After that Keith came home and slept from 6:30 pm through the night. I just let him sleep in in the morning (because he never sleeps this much so I figured he must need it). He got up at 11:00.
When I got home from church at noon, Keith was laying on the couch in tears. This NEVER happens!! He was holding his leg funny and kept telling me that his hip bone was coming out of his skin. What???? So I checked. He had a HUGE boil! It was nasty, nasty, nasty. So I called our pediatrician. She & I are friends and I don't want to ever abuse that friendship, so I make every effort to never call her at home about medical issues. But this one was necessary. And as soon as I told her what was happening, she agreed and told me to get him to the Emergency Room.
so off we go to the ER. There, the doctor took a culture of the drainage, then squeezed and squeezed and got tons of ick out of the thing!! It was BAD!!! He gave us an anti-biotic and told us to check in with Lori (our doc) today.
Then Keith fell asleep on the way home at 4:00 and slept all the way home, crawled into bed when we got home and slept right through the night till 10 am today! He also spiked a fever of 101.8. If it got to 102 we were going to have to go back to the ER and be admitted because of sepsis, but he just missed that
Today when we saw Lori she said that she got the prelimary results of the culture back and he does have staph infection. She won't know until tomorrow if it is MRSA or not, but unfortunately he does have all of the typical symptoms of it.
Pray that it is not, please.
I'm telling you, when it rains it pours, doncha agree? And tomorrow I have to go my doc because I failed my glucose tolerance test. Good heavens!!
Do I sound like a whiner? I'm sorry.

Usually I'm not. Just a little overwhelmed right now. I know you all have been praying and I really want to thank you for that
