Did you read?

One in four adults read no books at all in the past year, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll released Tuesday. Of those who did read, women and older people were most avid, and religious works and popular fiction were the top choices.

The Bible is the bread we need for our spiritual man. Do saints still read their Bibles? Is the Bible becoming old fashioned due to new media and computer options? How much Bible should a saint read daily to stay spiritually healthy?

I wish I could read books.... Starting about 10 years ago, I cannot read more then 3-4 pages without falling asleep. I still read a lot, but it is limited to magazine and online articles and school text books. Nothing like a rousing chapter on IP subnetting to get the ol juices flowing!

Ever try speed reading? Assuming a person gets enough sleep, the reason most folks get sleepy is due to their brain becoming bored. People on average read so much slower than they think. Speed reading helps the brain be more active so a person stays more alert and therefore comprehends more.

When I teach Bible studies to new folks, I try getting them to read their BIbles on a regular basis. I always suggest that they at least use their pointing finger to follow along with each word they read. This is one of the first lessons in speed reading. It usually will speed up a person's reading speed by 50% or more. Many have told me that it really does help them stay more alert. Besides, the more senses you involve in learning, the easier it is to remember.

I hope this helps!

Try experimenting with different reading glasses as well as L&F's suggestions. I had a similar problem and it was really frustrating me. I found that reading ebooks makes a big difference for me as well.

And mocha. That's usually a good answer for most problems right there.

I REALLY like your mocha idea! I must remember to add that.

The text size in Bibles can be a real problem also. Seems the nicer the Bible, the smaller the text.

Of course I read!

Fiction: Billboards, email forwards
Nonfiction: Cereal boxes, Publisher's Clearinghouse mailers

You've got some good pointers.
