Before I got into Church, I wore a bikini to the beach and thought nothing of it. I also wore shorts and tube tops. Now that I am in Church, No one even needs to tell me how to dress. I just feel very uncomfortable if I have on clothes that are too short, too tight, too low or too sexy. I think that feeling is the Holy Ghost letting me know that the clothing isn't modest enough.

Do you mean to tell me that you now have a godly conscience?

I believe in modesty. I believe it is more important for women to be modest than men, sexist as that may sound. Men have more issues with visual lust than women do and I think women would be wise to protect themselves from this. I don't think a Christian woman should show cleavage or a lot of thigh. I may be old fashioned, but that's where I stand. I do wear pants and make-up etc. But modesty is always in order.

I also think it should be WOMEN teaching women about these issues and the men should stay out of it and focus on how to control their eyes and lusts. Men should not point the finger and say "It's her fault I lust". That doesn't hold water. Men are responsible to divert the eyes and control their own lusts. Women are responsible to dress modestly. I'm always wary of a guy that spends a lot of time thinking about how a woman should dress.

The desire for modesty begins in prayer. If we relied on our natural hearts or
conscience to convict us many would never dress modest. The Holy Ghost
though sets a standard there in the residence of our heart. The preacher
if he is moving in the flow of the spirit confirms the word that Jesus has
already trying to get through to use with.Sadly some are never tuned in
but alway tuned out and listening to the dictates of the world or which
ever group is influencing them.No one ever pointed out to me what was
right and wrong in dress.I pray and shop and let the Lord lead me.Many
times as a new convert while out shopping Jesus would tell me
that something was not a good idea.Dying to self is never easy.
Prayer and fasting and the word preached to our hearts will give us
a desire to be pleasing to God.
I will not get into what I looked like before salvation but I assure you
modest was not the word and honestly I dressed in what I liked not
to impress or attract but still it was immodest by all definitions.

Obviously, wearing a bikini in public is immodest. Wearing a skirt below the
knee is modest assuming it doesn't fit skin tight. As to where to draw the
line, the Bible doesn't spell this out. I think we have to use good common
sense. The scripture just simply tells us to adorn ourselves in modest
appearal. This is why we have to be careful about making our interpretations
equal to the law of God. This is legalism when we do so.
Now as for my family, my wife and daughter wear their skirts below the
knee. This is what we feel is modest. However, I would never dare to say
that someone isn't saved if their conviction is not identical to mine. At the
same time a lady in public in a bikini probably has little concern for being
modest. The word of God gives us the principle of modesty and we have
to use common sense in applying the principle to our lives.

let me see if I can break this down for all of you.

Men should not wear womens clothes
women should not wear mens clothes.

Men and Women should wear clothes.

Nobody should wear polyester or have mullets.
