If the pastor had a problem shelling out big bucks for the meal, he shouldn't have taken him to a high class restaraunt.

What's the big deal? If the pastor has any financial sense about him, he would count it as a business expense on his taxes. I see this as a win win situation.

Churches are non-profit, so using church money for food as a business expense won't help lessen the tax load because they don't pay taxes.

If the pastor paid it out of his own pocket (doubtful) his only deduction savings is at best 50% depending on his personal income tax rate.

Every church I'm aware of, have all had a special expense account that the pastor uses for occassions like this, and is seperate from his take home pay.

According to Jeanie (who knew the original story), the church picked up the bill. That's why it was a big deal!!
