Removing the wrong leg is the result of miscommunication, not going against patient wishes. That once happened at a hospital I worked at. A nurse wrote down left instead of right. Nobody double checked.

Something seem off with this story, detail don't line up well. I wonder if the woman was mental ill and the state enforce the ruling due to her condition .
