Difference Between Mercy and Grace
A friend of mine said the Lord gave him this example of the difference between Mercy and Grace.
Two young girls get caught in fornication. One gets pregnant and the other doesn't.
Which one received Mercy and which received Grace?
His answer: The one that did not get pregnant received Mercy, the one that did received Grace to go through the pregnacy.
What do you think?

Grace is when we get a reward/benefit we don't deserve
Mercy is when we don't get the punishment we do deserve

If grace is a reward, then why did He said His grace is sufficent? I know it is a help but wouldn't the reward be NOT to have to go through the trial?

Isn't there a scriptur that says "Forget not all His benefits"? Grace is His benefits/favor bestowed on us even though we don't deserve it.
And yes the benefits He bestows are sufficent!!!! Even if He chooses not to give us what we ask for.

I've never really thought of grace or mercy as being benefits, but I can see where they would be.
I am grateful for whatever He gives me.
We never can be worthy but He over looks our faults and lovingly blesses us anyway.
He is such a good God.

Mercy is a result of Grace being bestowed.

Mercy as used in the bible is a decorator for a place whereas Grace is a thing. "the throne of mercy", "the mercy seat", etc... "By grace are you saved ..." In the "place" of mercy one obtains grace("Favour without merit"). Mercy is Christ dying in for sins, Grace is Him extending that to "whosoever will". Mercy is the sacrificial substitution, Grace is the spiritual resurrection(ie arise in the newness of life)
