Sister B roasted the 2003 Dodge Stratus 2.4
She overheated it today. I changed the thermostat and put it all back together. Yet, I have a strong feeling that the head is cracked. I need everyone to pray that car doesn't overheat. She is heading over to a church which is south of us for a test ride. Please pray that it doesn't overheat.

Take heart brother. Its motor size does not end in 7, which except the mopar 5.7, usually means toast=done. The 2.4 is not an original mopar, more likely Mitsubishi, and will likely survive.

No most likely at all, it IS a Mitsubishi it is a 2.4 G
My favorite Dodge was our old Dodge Aries. I could take the entire car apart on the side of the road, and get it back to together. I have no clue why I got rid of that Lee Iacocca gem.

Odd design. Had I known they do this I would have changed out the water pump early.
Basically the water pump is internal and the bearing is inside the timing chain cover. If the bearing fails, the coolent ends up in the oil pan, result, blown engine. Peanut butter colored oil, spun bearings, and over pressure in the heads.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

EB, Start the car up and squeeze the outflow and intake hose on radiator both should be hard to squeeze. If not the water pump may be bad. Also, the water pump will have a weep hole sometimes its hard to see. Let the car get up to temp and inspect it really good sometimes tiny holes in the rubber hoses will show once the coolant gets hot due to expansion. You will never find them when car is cool and not running.

I pressure tested the system with my Snap On cooling system pressure tester. No leaks that I could see. Water pump is behind the timing belts, and usually when it goes bad (seal over bearing failure) is makes a prominent knocking sound. This is due to an increased slack of play between shaft and bearing. the weep hole which starts to leak (famous on early Honda Goldwings) usually leaves a healthy sized puddle. Again, nothing found. Therefore my sights are on checking for a rotted heater core.
