Rare or well done?

How do you like your steaks? I like mine rare... to medium. But, now I am at a crossroads. I don't know which path to take. Sounds stupid, but, is it a sin to eat a steak that is not "well-done"?

Was this a prohibition of blood, or was the writer addressing a cultural/religious/pagan issue of his day?
