"Without the Video, My Word May Have Meant..."
"Without the video, my word may have meant nothing," says 51 year old Marlene Pinnock, a homeless woman found walking on and Interstate highway in California, and subsequently punched in the face, repeatedly, by California Highway Patrol Officer Daniel L. Andrew.

Without drugs and alcohol in her system, a 51 year old mentally ill homeless woman goes to the media to tell all who will listen, "I was beat in the face by a police officer." However, she has no proof other than bruises.
Would you believe her? Would you think she or the media is just looking for another story? Would you believe her?

I'm jaded and cynical from having been lied to repeatedly by meth moms when I was a social worker. It would be hard for me to believe her.

JD...people lie. Cops lie, Democrats lie, Republicans lie, whites lie, blacks lie, citizens not in public service lie...
Why would I believe her OR the cop without some sort of evidence?

How would you handle a rape accusation?
How would you handle any accusation where the evidence is not IMMEDIATELY detectable?

That's a tough question. Take away the race of this lady for a moment. Without evidence, and with her history, it's hard to believe even a white woman would be considered credible against the word of an officer.

Let the Detectives investigate it. Do the Forensic work. Check security cams and interview witnesses.

Yeah we get lied to all the time in EMS.We dont arrest people...we arent out to put people in jail.The only time I would inform law enforcement would be if there was a danger to children ect.But people will call us with health issues and deny taking drugs and come to find out the reason their O2 sats are plummeting and they are on a bi pap machine to force air into their system is they took opiates...when confronted they deny it...cry ect but when you push narcan or naxalone and it cancels that drugs effect the truth comes out.I too trust no one.I look for the evidence to confirm or deny what people say.People lie all the time through comission or omission.Yes I know law enforcement does bad things...I don't blindly trust or believe them...not anymore.
