"What we are seeing on the screen is the meltdown, collapse of the Obama policy on the Muslim world," Charles Krauthammer said on the panel segment of FOX News' "Special Report" tonight. "The irony is that it began in Cairo, in the same place where the speech he made in the beginning of his presidency in which he said, you wanted a new beginning with mutual respect, implying under the other presidents, particularly Bush, there was a lack of mutual respect. Which was an insult to the United States, which had gone to war six times in the last 20 years on behalf of oppressed Muslims, in Kuwait, in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere."
"So to imply that we somehow had mistreated Muslims which was the premise of his speech and how the Iraq War had inflamed the Arab world against us. Well there was no storming of the U.S. embassy in Cairo in those days," the FOX News contributor and syndicated columnist said.
"What we're seeing now is al-Qaeda developing in Libya, meltdown of our relations with Egypt, you have riots in Yemen, attacks on our embassy in Tunisia. This entire premise that we want to be loved and respected, we'll apologize, has now yielded all of these results and these are the fruits of apology and retreat and lack of confidence in our own principles," Krauthammer concluded.

Well, didn't Barack Obama say that he did not care for the Star Spangled Banner because of its violent words like bombs bursting in air and that he would rather see it replaced with something like "I'd like to teach the world to sing...."? If that's the policy he has sown, we are now reaping from it.

Sam, here's something else he said.
In “Audacity of Hope” he writes: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” The quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of “The Audacity of Hope."

Guys, you're far to smart for this. I can't even begin to tell you the impact it has on people of my generation and younger when they see story after story like this spread like wildfires through the conservative community. A simple 3 second google search shows this is not true.
The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows: "Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
No mention of Muslims at all and, in context, a statement about American citizens not being treated like Japanese Americans in WWII. You are free to disagree with that statement and you may feel like people need to be interned en masse, but it is highly ineffective to just make up quotes, remove context, and disagree with that.
I only say this because as bad as I hate the two party system, we are headed to a system where only one party will be viable. These sort of things do not play well with younger and mainstream America.

I will be 70 in a few days. When i was young we were taught our word was our bond. When we said something we made sure it was true. I remember mom telling my br. & I don't repete gossip because 9 out of 10 times it will not be true. Her advise proved to be correct.
Today pastors stand in their pulpits and teach that gossip is wrong, then hr's later they are on sites such as this one posting statements they hear or read that are false. Evidently it's do as I say not as I do. Sad.

Stew, I stand corrected. Yet the bolded above seems to be taken as Muslims by some. And some of the "fact checking folks" are expressing their opinions, and some have been proven to be wrong!
Why does Obama say he will side with a certain group before there is any facts presented. (Another beer drinking summit in the White House over jumping to conclusions, I guess?) Why didn't he immediately stand up for 4 Americans that were killed this week? Why did it take him so long? Could it have been, or had anything to do with the fact that the attackers were Muslims? And this comes back to the right of each of us to have our own opinion. I have mine and you have yours, and I'm sure everyone else on AFF has theirs and they either agree with me or you, I'm sure! (NOT!)

My point is that the reason I generally don't have these conversations anymore with anybody from either "side" is it has become all about the side they are on. It's like there is no more right and wrong or black and white; everything is blue or red.
Presenting something widespread as a direct quote complete with quotation marks and a page number is wrong whether the person doing it is Dem, GOP, or any other thing...and I don't believe that is a matter of opinion.

Re: Collapse of Obama Foreign Policy in Muslim Wor
Light, you can try to use my being a pastor against me all you want but it bears no weight with me. When I'm here I'm an American citizen with the right to free speech and a political opinion just as much as you.
Please show me where I'm repeating gossip?
The point is, you're arguments for Obama are weak, they don't stand scrutiny so you time and again attack me directly or indirectly, for being a pastor, for being a gossip, for being a liar, etc. But you don't prove it. You just call me names. You evidently are fine with that. But I'm just going to tell you, its not going to stop me from having an opinion or posting what I believe to be true about this election or about our president.
And where is the "gossip" in this thread? I reposted a transcript of something Charles Krauthammer, an OPINION writer said. It's his OPINION that the Obama foreign policy in the Muslim world is collapsing. I happen to agree with his OPINION.
Let me assist you:
o'pin'ion (n.) 1. a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty. 2. a personal view, attitude or appraisal.
A huge difference between someone's OPINION and gossip...or lies.
So please stop maligning my character because of my OPINIONS.
Disagree with my OPINIONS all you want, that doesn't offend me. I do take exception to being called a gossip and a liar.
