Soul and Spirit
Does every human being have a body, soul and spirit? I'm thinking God breathed into Adam and man became a living soul. So the spirit of man is the breath of God. When Adam sinned the breath of God (spirit of man) seperated from Adam's soul, leaving just a body and soul. All men just have souls until the baptism of the holy ghost where the breath of God(spirit of man) returns and reborn christians are now body, soul and spirit like the innocent Adam.
Is there any biblical problem with this theory? Does the bible use the word spirit or ruach to refer to unregenerate man?

Re: Soul and Spirit
just did a word search on esword and found that the word ruach is used in reference to humans. How does this affect my theory? Is the breath of God within every human being, holy ghost or not?

Re: Soul and Spirit
he breathed the breath of life into Adam, and Adam became a living soul.
When Adam fell, he died spiritually
when we receive the HG and speak in tongues, we become a living soul.

My sentiments exactly, when Adam sinned the breath of life did not leave him, the spiritual death ment simply that the relationship between God and man was separted by sin, because God cannot look on sin without judgment. There for the fellowship was severed. Jesus took our sin and nailed it to the cross so that by faith in Christ we can come back before God in relationship with him.
Note there is nothing we can do to gain this relationship Christ already did it on the cross. This is why salvation is of faith not of works. The only thing we do is realize we were a sinner and beleive Christ died for us and then we can enter the presence of God. Upon this realization we are baptized because of the remission of our sins decalaring Jesus to the world. We are then promised the gift of God's spirit the holy ghost which was the covenant promise from the very beginning.

Re: Soul and Spirit
I see all men as spirit, soul and body, but the sinner has an inactive spirit. The spirit is what is born again. That which is born of God's Spirit is human spirit. He takes our old spirits and makes them new. Recall the prophecy of taking out the stony heart and making a new spirit. The principle is that all is made new. Our spirits are made new at salvation. Our souls Re being made new now, and our bodies shall be made new. But it is not that the spirit is gone from man.
Spirits of people may be unrenewed and in a lost state, but they are involved in circles of witchcraft, which would not be possible with the sinner retaining a human spirit.

What happens to an inactive spirit when the body dies?

Goes back to God who gave it, when the body goes back to the earth

And then hell?
Sorry for the questions. Just wondering what your thoughts are on these things.

Not sure about anything after that. The soul certainly goes to hell.

Re: Soul and Spirit
I may be wrong, but I think that in hebrew thought a person is made up of bodysoulspirit, instead of body/soul/spirit. Hebrews think in a more holistic way about these that the words can be interchanged, like when the Bible says "Eight souls were saved by water", it doesn't just mean the invisible part of Noah and his family.
Someone that knows more about this can explain it better than my limited understanding.
