Please keep my son in your prayers

My son is now a Recruit at Parris Island. Please keep him in your prayers... please keep ME in your prayers. And if anyone has advice for a mom to a future Marine, I would appreciate it very much!

I miss my son!!!!

Praying for you all, Subby!

Our nephew is a Marine and has been in Iraq, but he's now in Africa. I am not worried because my BIL is not worried. He said that he felt peace from God that his son would come home.

My son and nephew have been best friends all of their lives. He needs to come home! They have a deal that either will be the best man in each other's weddings - someday! LOL!

Thanks, PO, for the prayers.

You'll probably need the prayers more than him... if that's a comfort. ????

The Marines are often tasked with the messier assignments, at least historically. With the current "cooperation" among the different services and a larger set of Special Forces it seems the load does get spread around more. But the Marines are still the Marines.

My own son is in Army Basic Training right now. Reading between the lines, I think he's having the time of his life - but he's so serious about everything. Maybe that's best. I went into his room this morning and opened the window to let the breeze blow through. Everything's all neat and lined up. It's obvious he hasn't been there in a while (LOL).

I had given him some gifts in the past year (his last year as "our kid") that I had hoped would be symbolic for him. A framed calligraphic copy of Rudyard Kipling's poem "If," a calvary sword and a brass compass. They are all lined up with his district "Bible Quizzer of the Year" and other trophies.

For some reason I've been tempted to move into his empty room and sleep there. Weird.

Your post touched my heart! Sounds like you have a very remarkable son. He will be in my prayers also.

Thanks. Subdued's son probably has the tougher schedule ahead, being a Jarhead and all. Plus, Parris Island in June? Not my cup of tea. But they do get the chance for some sea breezes, that can be nice.
