Does anyone know of any good resource/reading materials that they can recommend for someone who is feeling called to the mission field? I did order a couple of books for her; but I don't really know what it is that I should be looking for? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. :-)

"Brushko" by Bruce Olsen is one of my favorite mission books. It's about a nineteen year old guy that went to Peru by himself to work with an Indian tribe that was uncivilized and basically cut off from all other humans. It's fascinating as you see how he overcame obstacles and just loved them where they were so he could eventually lead them to Christ.
Anything by Elizabeth Eliott (sp) is also good. If our own Sister Alvear would write her life story, it would be a best seller!!!!

Yes, Sister Alvear, write about your life as a missionary and the faithfulness of God!

I'm not sure what type of material you're looking for, but some good inspirational books would be Through Gates of Splendor, In His Steps, Tramp for the Lord (Corrie Ten Boom), Bug & Nona On the Go(Nona Freeman), and Ann of Ava (wife of Adoniram Judson).

I'm not sure what I am looking for either. Something to help my daughter. She has been feeling for several years that God was calling her to be a missionary. In prayer, years ago, I sensed the Lord was showing this to me (about her) , but I never told her about it. I knew that if it was God, HE would reveal it to her. Recently, she came to me and told me that she believed this was God's plan for her life.
I have ordered her "Adventures in Paradise" by Esther Henry and also " Liberia Sweet" by Sam Latta
She has all of Sis. Nona Freeman's books. She is reading Sis. Oma Ellis' book on prayer and faith.
I guess I'm looking for something that paints a realistic picture of missionaries and their work and all that it entails. She already has the burden and desire.
And I agree, Sis. Alvear should really write that book! What a blessing it would be.

Through Gates of Splendor and the movie based on the book, End of the Spear certainly deal with the reality of how dangerous it is on some mission fields. I'm not sure beyond that, but I'm sure Sis. Alvear and others will have some good suggestions!!!
You might also find some missionary blogs and have her read their updates. Add some missionaries to her friends on facebook, etc.
How old is your daughter?
