I'm curious...of those who voted yes for Mr. Obama are you still as enthusiastic or are you having any second thoughts? Take the poll, but only those who voted yes. If you voted for someone else don't vote.
He was all the mess I considered him to be. When it looked like he would win, Wall street started cratering.
I don't have the time or energy for much political debate, but let me just make one observation. In my opinion, one is taking a big gamble when they ignore clear previous trends and factors and place failure in the economy squarely on Obama's shoulders at this point. The problem is that if the economy then begins to climb sharply soon, you won't have a legitimate argument against placing credit squarely on his shoulders. I would seriously rethink that approach.

Let me offer two points. We have record low interst rates. That alone should cause a rapid economic growth.
We have one trillion dollars more liquidity via savings in crude prices. Money that we are not now exporting. That should increase disposable income sharply.
I will offer 4 items that lock up growth. We have rigid and severe environmental policies that are costly, growth prohibitive and taxing as a storm cloud over manufactureing.
We have contract trouble. We have a renegade leadership that has the nerve to suggest violation of contracts.
violation of loan contracts in lending
Violation of employment contracts
Violation of various regulations this brings uncertainty at best and anrchy at the worst
Virtualyy every growth feeding industry has several tax confrontations coming. Tough ones
We have the threat of healthcare mandates confronting small businesses.
All turn around growth is led by small business and start ups. Obama wants to mandate small companies provide healthcare coverage to workers. sorry. That will never fly. That means for every new worker they hire, they will have to fork out another 8,000 dollars plus to insure them. Talk about a motive to not hire. Small companies can't pay an 8,000 recruiting fee for all new hires but they can pay 8,000 for health insurance? No way.

I'm just saying that it is dangerous to lay blame on him before he takes office and months into his Presidency because you lose the ability to not give him a great deal of credit if things turn around. You can't at that point argue that what happened in the economy happened in spite of him or due to preexisting issues. I just think it would be a bit risky on the part of the GOP.

Sorry. I have the education and degrees in economics to review the data. You are correct in that we have varriables that change. I know where to get foreign currency numbers and reports. I know what japan did 10 years ago and what did not work. I know what Geitner tried in asia and caused harm.
Obama has his shoes strings in his bicycle chain. Reducing taxes increases the economy 3 dollars for every dollar of tax reduction. It means however Obama can't control the money. it may be tax cuts for companies that are not Dem donors. In yesterdays example, Yesterday he promised construction must go to union construction companies and not low bid methods.
non union workers need groceries also. My problem is when I go dig out data from reliabe economists, it is so loaded with propaganda and emotional bias. I also have to constantly review measurements. GDP, M1, M2 and a few other common ones have been re defined.
Global GDP is offered in PPP numbers. How misleading. Actually it is a misleading attempt to not be misleading.

tstew,
I have a very huge issue with Obama's stand on vouchers.
Right now, the Opportunity Scholarships Program provides $7,500 annually to cover tuition, fees and transportation expenses for 1,700 poor children to attend private school.
The parents of these children chose this route because they felt this environment was safer for their children in Washington D.C.
The children participating in the program in the D.C. area is 90% black, 9% Hispanic and 1% white or Asian.
Obama is preparing to end this program of choice and order the children back into the public school environment. BUT, he gets to choose a safe and healthy environment for HIS children. He gets a choice!
Taxpayers will spend twice as much funding these kids in the public school system, so apparently it is not about saving money!
Michelle Rhee, a Chancellor in one of the struggling public schools in the D.C. area had this to say: “Part of my job is to make sure that all kids get a great education,” she told the New York Times, “and it doesn’t matter whether it’s charter, parochial or public schools. I don’t think vouchers are going to solve all the ills of public education, but parents who are zoned to schools that are failing kids should have options to do better by their kids.”
I agree with her!!!! If a school is failing our children we, as Americans, should have a choice as to better options for our children.
When he was on the campaign trail and said he was against vouchers - a big red flag went up for me!!! It is not his right to make that choice for us as parents!!! Bush was for vouchers! McCain was for vouchers!
What that means is that eventually he will come after the Homeschoolers - mark it down! Why do I know that? Because he also stated, during his campaign, that he was going to have every teacher certified. They tried to come after the homeschoolers on that when I homeschooled. You don't have to be certified to teach your children. There is so much available to us for any subject we may need a helping hand. He wants everyone to depend on the government!
I didn't like him when he campaigned and I don't like him now!

Yes, you are anything but inconsistent about that . Long time no see.
Our whole education system is a mess and needs some major work before it's too late (if it isn't already too late). It is appalling how uneducated our graduates really are these days. I personally have to place a lot of the blame on parents these days. In a lot of the cases I've come across, it appears that even well meaning teachers do not have the support of parents when it comes to handling their children. It's just all a big mess. I honestly don't know enough about the different stances on vouchers and the overall pros and cons to say much about them.

I agree! Parents need to be more involved and - YES - it is a huge mess!!
I'm trying not to post as much. I have so many other things I need to do!!! Good to see you, Stew!!
Yeah, we were all a bunch of right-wing whackos, conspiracy theorists. Obama was a "centrist". He was going to govern from the middle. Whatever. All of the evidence pointed to the contrary, but so many believed everything MSNBC told them and got obsessed with Sarah Palin's wardrobe they overlooked the most important issue: could Obama govern as president, should he be trusted with his voting record and the company he kept over the years? So many voters just follow the herd and listen to the chorus of voices from the left-biased, Democrat-heavy, East Coast mainstream media.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!
