A surprisingly complex question. I was going to answer with a single word, 'yes'. Of course there is counterfeit faith, in the sense that some have put there faith in something fake. But the faith itself is real, in the sense that they really do believe what they believe. So 'no' is also a good answer!
So here's the correct answer to your question:
Yes and no.

While I agree with Timmy I think a lot of people try to validate their theology by using the counterfeit faith argument.
Example: A staunch oneness who thinks trinitarians are going to hell will use the counterfeit argument when the power of God moves in a trinity setting.

Definitely! And it happens on both sides. All sides, actually.

I read some where about counterfeit tongues and it made me think of this question. i was hoping for more thoughts, but oh well. I don't think that yes is an appropriate answer at all.
But a simple no doesn't do it for me either. I was hoping that maybe someone some time in their life has had this question too.

While driving around doing errands yesterday, I started thinking about the question of counterfiet faith. I believe that there is counterfiet faith in the world today.
The unbiblical view of faith of the "Word of Faith theology subjects God to the "laws" of faith of men. Kenneth Copeland said, "Faith is a power force. It is a tangible force. It is a conductive force.' The Force of Faith, pg 13. The faith of force is released by faith. Faith-filled words put the law of the Spirit of life into operations. The Force of Faith, pg 18
The bible teaches that faith is trusting in the promises of God. Faith is synonomous with "being sure".
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Additionally, we know that God's mercy dictates what's best for our lives and not any proclamation of our selfish desires.
15For he says to Moses,
"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."[a] 16It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy. Romans 9:15-16 (NIV)
