Question about sinful clothing
Hey all. Do you all believe it is a sin or wrong to wear clothing from Abercromie and Fitch? What about American Eagle or Ralph Lauren Polo? Tommy Hilfiger?
I dated a girl from a church that the people there could NOT wear any clothing from these places. The preacher even went so far as to say NO underwear (tops or bottoms) from these places. 'It is not holy clothing' or something is what he was saying.
What say ye? Are there any I missed that you are agains?

I wouldn't buy my kids clothes from abercrombie & fitch just because I didn't agree with their advertising - they tried their best to be as close to porn as they could get by with. They have toned it down a bit now, thanks to parents complaining. But their clothes themselves are no more sinful than any other place.

Oh, yes, now I remember something about that. And didn't they support the gays, or is that urban legend?

I am not sure if they supported gay or not, but I would not let that stop me from wearing something from there unless the shirt said, 'I support Gays'. If we band everything that supported something we are against there would not be alot we could support. My wife bought me a shirt the other day from Target or Walmart. Anyone that knows me will testify that I love the term Champion and the slogan 'I am a Champion' and things like that. The shirt she got me was from the band Queen and it says "We are the Champions". I have always heard that is a gay pride song, but I love the slogan so much that I do not let it bother me.

Apparently his view was that someone would not wear a shirt that says 'Jesus the Christ' then why wear Tommy, Polo, etc. There was a guy from the church that was a good friend of mine and he told me that he would 'never' wear those things with Tommy's name and such, but yet he had a big NIKE Swoosh in the back window of his truck. Go figure

It can cause trouble because it could be seen as identifying with that life style. I do wear their clothing from time to time, though not because of the name sake. I think that the sin factor has little to do with their clothing though the do sell something that if I were a girl I would be scared to wear. I do remember on time in Knoxville I believe I went into one the A&F store and one of the female employees was wear one of their swimsuits as her work out fit. It shocked me cause I was not expecting it. That kinda stuff ought to be kept for a private swim, it was a little too revealing.

Re: Question about sinful clothing
A & F would be a definite no-no for me. But, most of them do not make clothes in "men's" sizes as they only go to XL, basically a non-issue.
