Beards for Easter Drama

My husband and several of the men in my UPC church are growing beards for Easter! One of the men is the father of a well known poster here. Going around town my husband has made sure that EVERY pentecostal who either ignored him or turned their nose up he would go up to and tell them why he was growing a beard. I have mixed emotions about it. My husband's dad isn't hardly even speaking to him. I would love to know or maybe I would not want to know what the people on AFF think. Okay let the games begin!!!!!

Obviously I don't think there's anything wrong with a beard on a guy (see the avatar!). However, I've always thought it was hilarious that guys could grow them for the Easter plays and then have to shave immediately afterwards. For Pete's sake, if it's a sin, it's a sin. If not, then let them wear them whenever they want. All the UPC churches around here do this, and I have never understood it!

This is the first year we have actually grown them. My husband was the instigator of this. I guess my being uncomfortable with it is how I was raised. I'm just not used to it.

Well, it'll be funny to see because my daddy will have more on his face than his head (Buffy don't you tell him I said that)!

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the by-laws of the UPC say anything yeah or nah against facial hair.

Sherri. Glad I read your post before I said something. Its exactly my thoughts. If its wrong the rest of the yr, then its wrong at Easter. Wouldnt anything else be a double standard?
