What Are You Giving Your Children?

Among my many duties as "just the pastor's wife" I am also the coordinator of our Ladies Ministry.
Recently my heart and mind was impressed with this thought “What are we giving our children"?
I'm currently working at putting my thoughts on this subject into an outline and bible study for our next meeting.

After speaking with a few people I realized that many were more interested in what material items they can presently give their children or what they would leave them as an inheritance.
My concern is that some are more concerned about what they are giving to the child rather than what is being put into them.

I believe that we as caring parents should be concerned about our children’s needs and desires but are we emphasizing too much on the material and not the spiritual?

Are we giving too much to the flesh and not putting enough of the spiritual into their hearts?

Feeding their flesh but starving their spirit?

What are you putting into your child?

Please share your thoughts!

Great topic!

I think the most important thing a parent can do is to live as an example of a true Christian. It doesn't matter if you bring your child to church if you're not displaying God's love at home.

Have regular devotions with your family so your children know what you believe and not just what they hear in Sunday School and church service.

I know what I listened to and what I read as a child influenced me. Make sure they have Christian music to listen to and Christian books to read (it doesn't have to be to the exclusion of all else, but make sure you know what is going into their minds).

My daughter is 4 1/2 months old so at this point, I sing Christian songs and quote simple verses to her. Deut 6:4-5, Psalms 23, Psalms 100.
