Please read prayerfully

my son gave me this to put here please pray for them...

"Taking the light of the Gospel to those lost in darkness."
(John 8:12)

Dear Homeland Friends:

This finds my family taking the gospel to cities, urban areas and remote villages, telling a lost world that Christ loves them and came to redeem them from their sins. My part is the remote areas of Brazil. This is my calling and my deep burden. I am a product of missions! My dad’s family is a product of missions! I firmly believe in missions. For many years, missionaries have endured the rugged terrain of jungles and crossed dangerous rivers and. swamps, forging their way into areas where the gospel has never been. Missionaries have lived in the big dangerous cities and built headquarters works and Bible schools. This month my wife, children and I join the ranks of the jungle and interior missionaries!

We have worked with my adoptive parents all these years but when we talked with them and told them God was calling us to the jungle through tears they have encouraged us to obey God. My flesh hates to leave them for it seems to the natural eye they need us because of their health but I see God maturing my younger brothers that are in the ministry and I know all is well.

We know firsthand about great fatigue and danger (my blood mother was a martyr for the gospel) Yet it is our responsibility to bring Jesus to its darkest corners like thousands of other missionaries around the world and millions since the time of Christ have gladly done by giving up the comforts of home and careers that could earn them money and prestige and committed their lives to helping the less fortunate and sharing the "good news'' of salvation.

We are stating 3 works at the present time, one in the jungle city where they will be living. One in a village settlement called Barrio Branco and the jungle training center. Missionary work has always been dangerous but He who calls is greater than the dangers. We may confront disease, discouragement, and for certain loneliness, jungle work is forever challenging and never easy. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. And if just one person, who doesn't know Him, sees Him in nature and calls on Him, or wonders who the creator is, He will send someone to tell them about Him. Where we are going there are over 10 thousand Indians and many Brazilians who live and die without ever hearing the saving name of Jesus. Whose sin is this?

Most of you know Jesus in His word told us to leave all and follow and we are literally leaving all to follow. The only earthly goods they are taking are a part of our clothes.

I have priced some things in that area and pray this letter will fall into good hands and receptive hearts.

The main needs for us to set up housekeeping are:

A four burner stove and little butane tank cost………………$220
A table and four chairs cost…………………$165
A couch and two chairs for their living room cost………………..$220
A kitchen cupboard…………………$165
A wood closet (houses do not have built-in closets in Brazil)…………………. $220
A regular bed and mattress for them with a dresser cost………………$385
Two twin size beds and mattress cost (for their two children) cost…………$275 each
A small refrigerator cost………………………$545
A tank for washing clothes costs…………………..$140
There will be other items for our home so I am estimating they will need around $500 dollars for plates, a blender and mixer and a few pans etc.

Anything that you can help us with will be greatly appreciative. At the present moment we have nothing but faith and know that God will help us.

When I think of those that have no one to tell them I think of 1 John 3:17. According to God’s word we must divide our bread with the hungry if not we certainly would not lay down our life for him. If we have not bowels of compassion, we have not the love of God in us; if we shut up our bowels against the poor, we shut Christ out of our hearts and ourselves out of heaven.

My brother in law Brother Chad is helping me write this letter in your language. I appreciate the sacrifice Americans make for people all over the world to hear the gospel.

Monies to help us may be sent to P.O. Box 797, Jonesville, La 71343. Please earmark your check for jungle work or if it is for one of our direct needs please mark it on the check.

Mother gave us her hammocks until God supplies for beds. From time to time I will be letting you know how things are going. Right now I ask for your prayers above anything else.

Thank you for being a friend to my family. We encourage you to please consider financially supporting this project. Our goal is to gain enough support through this letter to set up housekeeping.

Brother Arlei and Gilene and family.

What a beautiful family you have, Sis. Alvear. ....We're doing what we can to help you. Wish we could send more. Pray for us, as we pray for your family. This post made me cry. This kind of need makes me want to "take up an offering."...LOL

Prayers are very important. Sometimes I feel so exhusted from the scores of needs and I too cannot help them all but we can pray and God can use first this one then that one to meet the many needs of His work. Love you, my friend.
