Ever Get that Feeling that some of your "Friends" are only your "Friends" based on...

What you do for them?

It is an empty feeling... and sad...

Some are "Friends" based only on the fact that you can do something for them...

Some are "Friends" but never call, or communicate...

Some are "Friends" only if you'll come to their church and "help" them...

There are some friends I have that have been a great blessing in my life... They call, email and care. We communicate regularly... and I appreciate it..

Friendship is a Two-Way Street.. in turn I call, email and communicate...

But Good Friends are hard to come by... There are those here on AFF who I have come to know and appreciate...

But sadly many "friends" who I have know for years just like me for what I can do for them... and if I'm not doing something for them... I don't hear from them...

Truthfully... I can't stand folks like that....

How Bout' You??

I hear you! I have seen people get all chummy with a potential new convert, only to dump them when it was apparent they were not joining up or had a different interpretation of scripture. Appalling!

That's very sad. Unfortunately that was much of my experience in the UPC. We poured out our lives into it and then got a good swift kick in the hind end for it. Nice. But there are a few who still call. I appreciate those because you know that the friendship goes farther than just affiliation.

Yep......Disagree in one minor point over some dress standard or something like facial hair on men and it's "anathema maranatha" ...oh, well.

rev randy, the answer to your thread question is "YES"...

Made me think of this song from The Byrds, "Turn, Turn, Turn," album:

Satisfied Mind Lyrics

How many times have you heard someone say
If I had his money I'd do things my way
But little they know that it's so hard to find
One rich man in a hundred with a satisfied mind
No - money can't buy back your youth when you're old
Or a friend when you're lonely or a love that's grown cold

And the wealthiest person is a pauper at times
Compared to the man with a satisfied mind.

Once I was living in fortune and fame
I had all that I dreamed of to get a start in life's game
Then suddenly it happened and I lost every dime
But I'm richer by far with a satisfied mind.

Turn! Turn! Turn!

Now, as I recollect this song was on that Turn! Turn! Turn! album, too:
(Words adapted from the book of Ecclesiastes and music by Pete Seeger)

Turn! Turn! Turn!

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven.

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep.

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven.

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to ga-ther stones together.

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven.

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing.

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven.

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I know it's not too late.

Uh.Oh..Did I highjack the thread??...lol

I well remeber the song. Believe it or not, I used it in a sermon. No wonder I never got asked back!

Think about how many folks treat God the same way and imagine how He feels....
