I give an offering now and then. I have not given tithes in the 6 years we've been there. In that 6 years, I've heard the Pastor preach once on giving and tithes (unfortunately he also used Malachi); however, I've never been personally approached or spoken to about tithing. Because of my leadership roles, I speak with the Pastor frequently, yet haven't been given the "tithe talk" yet.

Wow! You're the first one I've known of who has not had a problem with "NOT" paying their tithes, and also being involved in the leadership. Why do you think this is?
We personally do not give 10%... we give much more. We give to those in need, and to charitable organizations of our choice. The Lord has richly blessed us in many, many ways, both when we were 10% tithe payers, and when we began to give freely to those in need alike. I believe the Lord looks at the heart of the one giving.
I read a statement written by Amy Carmichael just today and it says:
You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.
I think that sums up this discussion perfectly. When your heart is in the right place, full of love for God, and for your fellow man, you will be a giver in more ways than just monetary, but your giving will spill over into everything you do.
