Rules provide no help in avoiding evil desires

Colossians 2:21-23 You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as, “Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”? Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.

Why is it we have elevated rules to protect people and yet the Word says they are useless in doing that very thing.

What about the rules of God, Don't steal, Don't murder, Don't lie.

Read on my friend. It tells you what to focus on.

Col 3:5
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.

I believe baron is trying his best to ignore this response.....

There is a difference between legalism and having Bible based standards in your life.

Barons Antinomianism is a recipe for immorality.

I don't need no stinkin' rule book. I'm not ignoring anything it has no relevance to the post I made, which was almost entirely Scripture.

Paul, why are you teaching antinomianism?

as was the post in question....but you chose to ignore it because that scripture doesn't fit your view...

Deadeye's Pelagianism would make a woman's skirt and uncut hair heaven or hell ... after all they are BIBLE STANDARDS ... buwaaaaaaaaaha.

May explain his plucked out dead eye.

I shouldn't be taking pot shots at my WEAKER BROTHER ... (ROMANS 14) ... Have at it ... be extrabiblical.

You have me all wrong...I do believe in Original Sin and believe we are saved by Grace through Faith...and that only...however I do see that there are "Means of Grace" in the Word, and that by His Spirit we are to live righteously in this life....this is Bible.
