Tattoos-What do ya think?
Touching a Taboo Subject...Tattoos.
It has not been discussed much here from what I have seen. What does each of you think about tattoos? Sinful or not? Would you get one? If so what would you get? Do you have one? If so what is it? All those types of things.
I am not against them though I think that alot of people go too far with them. I would love to get a large cross on my back or arm. I will get something to signify my daughter and maybe get my lastname on me at some point. I think it would be cool to have sleeve tattoos, think Todd Bentley. But that ain't me. Not sure I could pull it off. The Bible says we are the temple of the HG. Even temples need to have paint on them, right? Hey depending on what version of the Bible one uses it say that are names are written in his hands and from what those has researched it have said the actual word used there is the word used to mean tattoo. That are names are tattooed in His hands. Kinda cool.
So what do you all think?
Here is a site you can get slip on sleeve tattoos...kinda neat

Re: Tattoos-What do ya think?
I hate tattoos. I regret getting the one that I do have. I'll probably have it removed. I don't think a christian should mark themselves with tattoos post conversion. If I were an employer, I would not hire a person with excessive ink or piercings.

If you are not kidding then you could get into trouble there. Unless the company has a code of conduct that speaks to that then you are covered if not you can get sued over it. That is a bad reputation that you would be tattooed with.

Re: Tattoos-What do ya think?
Tattoos seem to be just another form of outward adorning...along the lines of permanent makeup.
I guess if you are an avid makeup supporter, you would be an avid tatoo advocate.
I am not....but I do think there is something kinda cool, that folks have to live their entire life with a decision they made at some earlier time.
The permanance of consequence involved for those who choose to "adorn their body" by injecting permanent ink under their skin, can provide an EXCELLENT, enduring, spiritual witness for the person who may be given to impulsive decision-making or self-glorification.

That Eagle on the chest of a strapping nineteen year old doesn't look as majestic at 80, huh? LOL!

I don't think that in anyway it is adorning so much as it is decorating it for your own pleasure. Not talking out both side of my mouth either. Think that we are too take care of our bodies no matter what. I know some that eat vegan cause they think that is the way it is to be done. I know some that don't. Not sure that God even cares about tattoos. Church people care. But for a strict adorning thing lots can be adorning. Fixing ones hair, getting a tan, losing a tan, etc. Ink or tattoos though they seem permanent they aren't so people can remove their regrets. It is like a outpatient surgical repentance. ha

JT,
If you think injecting an image into your skin is not about personal adorning, involving a person seeking to be seen in some orchestrated light, I disagree.
People do not suffer the cost, discomfort and 'functional' permanance without some expectation that it will influence how others will preceive them outwardly. To me, that is unmistakeably a purposed, premeditated, adornment.
In the NT, grace teaches us that everything is about motive; the heart condition. IMO, if I want to alter the outward appearance of my skin with various man-made images, I have a circumstance at work in my heart that is not authored by God's Holy Spirit.
Actions are merely symptoms.
Isn't it great how we can all openly share our opinions!
