One big plus is that you won't have to worry about anyone stealing it. And it is a good thing you don't live where they have subdivision rules etc. They might take a vote and force you to keep it under wraps.

Speaking of small animals... I am off to investigate a fireplace/chimney that is acting as a door for a family of racoons... they came in for the third time last night and rumaged though the pantry.

Probably not. The effect would only be temporary. Once you and the van returned home the raccoons would only return.
Perhaps you could rent out a life size cut out of the van.
