I do believe that there has to be some agreement. Unity will not happen when there is such disagreement in things such as standards or other beliefs.
Where I diverge from some is that I do not believe that we must throw out standards simply because there is so much disunity over it. I believe that we will have to reach some concensus eventually, though I am not sure where that will be.
I will not oppose fellowshipping with those who hold a lesser standard than I or my wife, except where they use it to proselytize those around us. Unfortunately, there are some who will try to do that and it breeds division.
Psalm 133 states it well.

I'm not NI, but let me ask you this, Miz...how many UPCI churches are in your city?! How many of them agree on every point?!

In this city we have maybe five, if we include those neighboring...five churches in the SAME org, with pastors signing the SAME document of affirmation.

Do you want to know how many of them agree with the other?!

NONE!!

Fundamental Doctrine...yes, but the other issues, they don't, yet they are all aligned with the Mother Ship...amazing, isn't it?!

Well, that's how the United Pentecostal Church, International came to be. They didn't all agree on every point, but walked together nonetheless.

How can I do any less...?!

There are NO UPC established churches in my city which has a population of >60,000. There is one UPC minister who is trying to start a work and another who has been here (in a neighboring town) for a number of years without much success. There are NO other independent apostolic churches in my city. The closest UPC congregation is a 20 minute ride north on the highway. The closest apostolic church is another 20-30 drive. Obviously I don't live in the Bible belt.

I'm not surprised.

I reccomend a big plate of crow and an apology to those on this board who are UC. Yes, there are liberals here. I would imagine that you would find some in your own church if you were to shake the bushes hard enough, unless you are the only member.

Further, while UPCI os very liberal in some respects, I for one (license minister that I am) am not nor do I intend to become liberal. So, your statement that ALL of us are is grossly misguided. You might be surprised at how large a number of us still hold to the old paths which I agree are right.

So, if your acidic comments must be made, at least apply them correctly for it is you who will ultimately get burned for acting like this.
Repentance is a good thing, especially from the pharissee spirit. It doesn't mean that you give one inch of your belief, it just means that you are willing to at least TRY to reach folks who believe differently instead of driving them further into error.

Just a thought...
