James 2 speaks about not being a respector of persons when it comes to a man wearing a gold ring or a man wearing vile raiment comes into your assembly. Nothing in that chapter says anything about the man with a gold ring on being in sin.

ring

daktuvlio
Transliterated Word
Daktulios
Phonetic Spelling Parts of Speech
dak-too'-lee-os Noun Masculine

Definition
a ring (on the finger)

Luke is the only place this word is used for 'ring'.

The 'ring' in James is defined as 'adorned with gold rings'.

If I understand 1 Peter 3:3 to be a prohibition of wearing any gold ,or any plaiting of the hair ,then putting on of apparel is forbiden as well.
I think 1 TIM.2:9 and 1 Peter 3:3 are saying that women what wear on the outside is not where their true beauty comes from ,but their real beauty comes from being adorned in a meek and quiet spirit and being adorned with that which is becometh women professing Godliness with good works.

Then watches should be plain, not shiny, jeweled, or look nice in any way. Just a plain face with plain strap.

Who needs a watch on anyway? They didn't have them in Biblical times!

THIS IS MRS> IBCrazier:

I have read 72pages of this arguement.

My ? is: IS this a heaven or hell issue?

My opinion:
If you attend a church where the pastor's conviction and teachings say no wedding bands....Wear no wedding bands and Visa versa.
If you live to the convictions and teachings of your pastor and shepherd you will be safe If your convictions are stronger or more conservative than your pastors then ok. YOu are still safe.

But if you are out from under the spiritual guaidance, convictions, and teachings of your pastor that is where you could be in real trouble.

Cause when it all boils down to it this is a gray area and it is under the grace of God.

If a man knows in his heart thatsomething s wrong and does it to him it is a sin.......

I am I wrong..........

thanks,
THe MRS.

I totally agree, brother. Peter said that the conversation (the attitude; mannerism) of the wife can save her husband when he won't even listen to the Word of God....her clothing, hairdo, and jewelry can't do that, yet we preach that Peter said not to wear jewelry yet we don't preach that he said we can't wear clothing or fix our hair.

I know churches that taught that a watch band had to be black leather only. at least they was consistant ? then again, why don't they just carry a pocket watch and not wear Any objects on their body?

But I asked, why do they need a watch to begin with? Peter and Paul didn't have one! Jesus didn't wear one! Moses and John the Baptist didn't wear one!

Aren't we supposed to do like they did? That's how some argue about other issues on this forum......LOL!
