Can you define what you mean by "straw man theory"?
I ask because usually the term strawman refers to a strawman argument not a theory. That is where someone you are debating with takes what you believe or said and mischaractorizes it into something you don't actually believe or said and then refutes it...
In other words they are not battling you but battling only a mischaracteritio of what you said or believe...fighting the wrong enemy as it were.
