Jesus wouldn't expose His nekkid toes to the lustful gaze of those around Him.
Nothing but the most expensive alligator shoes for Him.
Haha! And those see through socks that went up the knee! haha!
Seriously, without looking it up I'm pretty sure they went barefoot. Wouldn't that be a hoot at a church, to make everybody go barefoot! haha.
I was talking with a conservative 'holiness' lady recently who had heard of achurch where the pastor kicked off his sandals and taught from the platform barefoot and she was mortified!
How ironic (assuming my assumption is true).

Well, I've seen pastors in sandals at a couple of churches, and I've seen people on the worship team barefoot, and I've taught midweek Bible Study in a tee shirt, jean shorts, and sandals, but I haven't seen a bare footed preacher/pastor yet. I guess that's because I don't go to liberal churches.

Well, Eddie is never barefoot on the platform, but he's always just in a pair of pants and a Hawaiian shirt or a really cool untucked shirt. The only exceptions are days when we have ordinations, baby dedications or Easter - then he will wear a suit. When he's casual, the anointing of God is just as strong on him as it ever was. No one on the praise team/band is wearing a tie and guess what? The power of God moves in and we have awesome church! God doesn't care what we wear as long as it's modest. Personally I think the way our people dress is much more modest than a $1,000 suit and fancy shoes.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Sounds like they had it going on BEFORE the West Coast did!

HO, respectly, it really isn't as "clear" as you say it is. There can be more than one way to interpret this passage. A man cannot be a man unless he first has a natural birth of the flesh. That's a given. So to be born "AGAIN" does not consist of a natural birth but of a Spiritual birth ONLY and that Spiritual birth, when further explanation is given by Jesus, consists of water and Spirit. At least that's the way I see it and it harmonizes perfectly with what the apostles did and taught.
See, I don't understand why Jesus mentioned the part about 'that which is born of flesh is flesh' after mentioning being born of water AND of spirit (indicating two births, not one) if He was referring to a spiritual rebirth only, and not a physical one also.
We are not born again twice, which is what I see scripture saying if your premise is correct. Jesus said a man must be born of water AND OF spirit...two births. Only one is a rebirth.
But I agree there's more than one way to interpret that passage, as I used to believe it the way you describe above. But then again, I was also told that Jesus told Nicodemus that he had to be born AGAIN of water and spirit. That totally changes the meaning of that verse had He said that.
