Rox and Sox !!!!
Sports competition is a much used metaphor for the struggles of our lives and is even used by Paul as an example of the Christian life. We all strive for things in this life, to provide for our families, to better our education and to better ourselves in many different ways. Everyone admires a "winner" who has achieved success honestly and who carries that success with the right poise. Humility and grace as well as a few encouraging words for those of us still striving are the hallmarks of the greats.
Tonight is Game One of the 2007 World Series. Athletes who are among the best in their game will compete for a title that lasts but one year, but the honor will follow them the rest of their lives. I salute the desire for excellence that these players embody. Though I am a partisian in this particular match up, I do admire the hardwork and dedication of these two teams and wish them and their families all of the very best.
