At first I thought this was just more satire until I looked at the discussion threads... I guess it isn't satire. Wow.

Re: Join: Liberation Services & Hair Cutting Parti
Wow you'd think they'd have a few video clips or pictures of a few of these parties... they've been going on (or the rumors have been going around) for probably 15 years at least! Not one pic? Not one video? I'd think someone in at least one of these many services would have whipped out their cell phone and gotten at least a few good shots!!
Unless they haven't actually happened....
Most OP women find that it is much easier to hot curl, straighten, or perm their hair til it's burnt off, chew or bite their hair off, or even tease or brush their hair so hard that it breaks off. Why have a hair cutting party when you can just as easily get around the scissors (and the letter of the law) and still get the desired affect?

I remember what a shock the holiness standards were to a young woman here in the Cincinnati area about 55 years ago. She had recently been baptized in water and the Spirit and it was time for Ohio Camp meeting. Her cousin (now a UPC pastor's wife) and a friend (grand daughter of the pastor who was also Dist. Supt) got new haircuts for youth camp. These were both teenagers. When they arrived, some adult ladies ducked down in their cars so they could apply makeup without being seen by others in the parking lot.

She was surprised by what others (other than the ladies and teens she had known) considered "holiness" or shocked that they were cutting their hair and using makeup? I was surprised at the MO District camp rules years ago... no culouttes, cap sleeves, or t-shirts with logos?!?! That precluded almost all the summer clothes I owned! (I was just as shocked at my first UC camp when many younger ladies wore very formal prom dresses and gravity defying hairstyles Friday night.)
I haven't been to a UPC camp for years, so I'm not sure what it's like in the UPC now.

She was "shocked" at the haircuts for Camp Meeting. "Long" hair back then was usually in a bun for women, then later in a french twist and "long" hair for teenagers was in a page boy or similar style. Men's hair was quite short back then so it wouldn't take much for women to have hair longer than men but must kept it below the shoulders. I guess these two had theirs cut quite short. She was "new" in the church and thought that "long" was longer than what those two had. So she was shocked at the use of makeup and hair above the shoulders. This would have been about 55 years ago.

Still gravity defying.
All the women are trying to impress each other and all the men are still trying to "flirt" and "play a role" to capture the eyes of the babes.
