Someone hit by the train!
I'm in California visiting with Ashley and her new hubby. Ashley and I left early yesterday morning to shop in San Francisco and just hang out all day. On the Caltrain, on the way back to Mountain View, we stopped about four stops early and just sat there for a very very long time. Finally they came in and told us that someone had been hit by a train a mile up the road and we would have to get off and find another way home!
We never heard whether it was a suicide or not, but they said it probably was. I guess this is kind of common here - jumping in front of a train. I have been praying for the family, but I haven't heard anything on the news. What a sad way to end life.

Re: Someone hit by the train!
Sherri,
It's amazing to me how bad a person's life must be in order to do something such as this. We had a lady in our town in her 50s get out of her car on the freeway and walk into traffic to commit suicide. Unbelievable!

Re: Someone hit by the train!
I heard recently that more people jump off the bridge here (San Francisco) than anywhere else in the U.S. There must be a lot of very unhappy hopeless people in this area of the world.

Re: Someone hit by the train!
When I read this I thought how blessed we are to have the peace of the Lord in such a troubled world. No matter whatever we face our Lord has weighed the problem first and said we are able to bare it for HIS grace is sufficient in every situation.

It is such a beautiful place. Amazing how many want to die in one of the most perfect places on earth.

Re: Someone hit by the train!
You would be surprised how many people kill theirselves with trains everywhere. Some park their cars on the tracks and just sit there. Others step in front at the last moment. One lady, as the train approached, took off her sweater, folded it neatly and draped it over a fence, then stepped in front of the train and died. Why would someone about to kill themselves worry about their sweater?

Re: Someone hit by the train!
I just asked someone today if they had heard anything about it here in the Bay area, and they said no--that it happens so often that no one even mentions it anymore!!

Re: Someone hit by the train!
Massive trauma is a pretty quick and painless way to go. By the time you would feel the pain you are already gone. It's a shame that some people's minds are so tortured that they would choose to end their lives. Doesn't make sense to me. I sure feel sorry for the families that get left behind. They feel the pain of suicide for many many years.
