shoes....
Today I was so amazed. We live in a very poor neighborhood and see poverty on every corner. However I asked my neighbor if he could come and help us mix concrete and I would pay him. I knew he was out of work and has several small children. He said Missionary, I will be glad to help and came right over. For a moment he looked at his bare feet and the concrete we were mixing and then said let me go get my shoes. He walked away in deep thought and the person next to me said, do you know why he was deciding what to do? I said no. My friend said he only has one pair of shoes…I was expecting him to come back with some decent shoes but as he passed I noticed they were split out the sides and very old and worn.
I said, Son what size do you were, He said 11 or 12…No one I know in our family wears that big of a size…
I kept watching him work while at the same time trying to protect shoes that really should have been thrown away long ago….I wept as I thought how blessed we are. I asked my son in law for a pair of pants to give him and a shirt. The man told me he did not have any long pants just a couple pairs of shorts.
Oh, how he worked and afterwards thanked me and told me that he could buy some milk for his baby and some rice and beans.
I remember reading that over half the world goes to bed hungry every night. We are so blessed…so blessed.
As I thought about shoes for this man I thought maybe someone would like to buy him a pair of shoes even through he is not a Christian he is God’s creation and a precious soul. If I had the money I would buy him shoes but I have so much on me.
May God bless you and repay your kindness to the less fortunate of our world.

Re: shoes....
Can you please post their name (last name only is fine) and address as well as clothing sizes of the adults and clothing sizes and age of the kids? I would love to send an anonymous care package.
Also, what is your climate like there this time of year? And what stores do you have locally like Walmart, Kroger, etc?

I can get this for you tomorrow...Although I am not for sure they can get it out of customs...we sure have had some problems but I will get it for you. In fact it would be my joy to do this.

So, if customs will be problematic, what is the best way to help? You tell us. )

Re: shoes....
I am coming to the states in March if you want to send them to my home address there you may do so and I will take them back or if you want to send an offering which houston is going to help some that is fine too...anyway is fine. If as I explaned extra comes in I will buy for his family. I feel sorry for them...There is dire poverty on every hand here however it seems something about this young man stood out....
And as those that know me best know I have got a very soft heart....After living and working among the poorest of Brazil it seems I would get used to it but their plight still saddens me...
