Strange Fire
Here is a link to an article by Lee Grady about some of things going on today that should make us stop and pray. We must be vigilant against heresies like these.

Please don't take this off into another MH diatribe.

Re: Strange Fire
I agree with Lee. It's just like the magic hair doctrine!
Sorry, I couldn't resist! LOL

Re: Strange Fire
Great article, we need to take heed that we are not overcome with strange doctrines and practices.

Re: Strange Fire
I thought that was a great article - but who are we to talk? Just look at the way OP's go on about Holy Magic Hair! ... oops, sorry.
Good article with some very important thoughts.

Re: Strange Fire
When I read that article about strange fire, I thought about :
too much emphasis on angels and angelic appearances
magic hair
The OP's are just as bad with the magic hair thing as the other folks are with the angel thing
but, stop and think,
angels appeared to or ministered to Zecharias ( Luke 1:11), Mary ( Luke 1:26), Joseph ( Matthew 1:20), shepherds ( Luke 2:9-13), Joseph again ( Matthew 2:13), Jesus ( Matthew 4:11), Jesus again ( Luke 22:43)women at the empty tomb ( Matthew 28:2; Luke 24:1-9; John 20:12), disciples on ascension day ( Acts 1:10-11), Philip ( Acts 8:26), Peter ( Acts 12:7-8), Paul ( Acts 27:23-24), John ( Rev 22:8). Evidently there was a lot of angelic activity in those early years. The writer of the Book of Hebrews speaks about angels being ministering spirits to those who are heirs of salvation ( Hebrews 1:14) and hints that we all might have angelic encounters ( Heb 12:2). So maybe seeing and interacting with angels should be expected to be more common in our day than we some times think.

But their (the bible) encounters were never wacked out like those in Lee Grady's articles.
I was just in a meeting where the lead speaker talked about an angel dressed in pink that sits at the bed of this child in church--and the angel speaks to the little girl.Everyone just seemed so fine with it, and then he said how his grand daughter has an angel and then he called the angel by name.
That is just too wacky for me-

I am a believer in the supernatural, however I am somewhat inclined toward skepticism often times when it comes to specific details. I have heard a lot of stories - some completely unreasonable and from the least credible sources.
The only thing that I can objectively use to evaluate the possibility of such encounters are the Word of God and my own sense and experiences.
Now, I agree that the Bible would seem to indicate the possibilities of such encounters - but I have never experienced a slam dunk bona fide angel walking into the room and saying, "Howdy" type of an experience. So, from the experience level I am bereft of any ability to evaluate the claim.
However, there have been at least four occasions in my life when I can say I honestly don't have a clue as to what I was witnessing and can offer no valid naturalistic explanation. And two of those occasions scared me so badly that I literally ran in fear before collecting myself to look again.
But I have nothing that I can offer another skeptic such as myself.

Re: Strange Fire
My oldest Boy lives in California and was going to a church that dabbled in this stuff [the gold flex or dust showing up on people],I prayed God would open his eyes and the last time I saw him He said He stopped "chasing signs and wonders".I had told him that this stuff was dangerous and bordered on witchcraft,Signs and wonders should follow us.In the context of Glorifing God and not ourselves to try and prove our own holiness or supposed power. The Holy Ghost will magnify Himself not us,I am nothing He is everything.

Re: Strange Fire
interesting article. because of personal views...i will not call any writing of Grady to be "good"....and while I agree with some of his statements....I don't think he ever did answer the question of Jesus talking with dead prophets. to simply say that this is forbidden in the OT does not answer it...because lots of things are forbidden in the OT.
but it is an interesting read.
