Must be a yankee, because yankee grammar is incorrect. Double negatives are perfectly fine and well-known to be correct standard English both in England and south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Although many north of the Line still speak it in spite of the misguided corrections of their more liberally educated betters.
Yes, I taught English grammar for over 20 years and still do, along with history, dialectics (both formal and material) and rhetoric.
