I think
Romans 1:25 sheds some light on
Romans 9:5, as both verses use the same formulaic expression "blessed for ever, amen." In the first case, the Creator is blessed for ever. This indicates to me that in the second verse the phrase is "God" is said to be 'blessed for ever".
Which then to me indicates that 9:5 is saying Christ is God, who is blessed for ever, rather than saying Christ is blessed by God for ever.
