I think the easiest way to explain it, would be that there are perhaps earthly consequences to sin, but no eternal consequences for sin that is repented of. While our sins are under the blood of Jesus, there may still be earthly consequences for our sins (thinking of David and Bathsheba) while eternal forgiveness is still given, but then there is the grace and mercy of Jesus that can always turn what the enemy intended for evil in our lives, to good here on earth.
