Discont'd ext. cab?
When did Chevy discontinue the extended cab Silverado? They offer the regular cab, double cab (4 doors, rear doors are kinda small) , and the crew cab (4 doors). Extended cab option not available. |
Re: Discont'd ext. cab?
Reading truck forums, it looks like the double cab replaces the ext cab with opening suicide doors. I wonder if there's much of a difference in space available for rear passengers. I'll read on. |

Rideshare? No. Car was a total loss. Attorney is wrapping things up with my case. I have been looking at auction vehicles online. I'm not a dealer so I can only purchase a salvaged vehicle. There are many in my current city. Flood damaged. They do mark how much water was actually in the vehicle. I know it is risky, but not a lot of options right now. |

I figure if I can get a vehicle that only had wet carpet for $1,000 and it turns out to be junk, it wouldn't be much of a loss. Just about anything I qualify for down here is going to be with a salvage title. Buy here, pay here, inhouse finance. Salvage title. |

Re: Discont'd ext. cab?
I agree with EB. Buying a flood damaged car is just asking for a lot of problems. Particularly electrical ones that can be very expensive.
My son works for a used car dealership and awhile back they bought a nice pretty new Ford Fusion Platinum Hybrid that looked brand new. It was not a flood car but a car that had been totaled with a title indicating that. The car looked great and was dirt cheap BUT it was a nightmare. It had been in a very bad wreck but was supposedly "rebuilt" while the body looked fine the electrical system was trashed. You could not turn the windshield wipers off and about a half dozen other weird electrical malfunctions could never be figured out and fixed. Sure did look good though and the price was incredible. You just couldn't drive it or sell it. LOL |

Re: Discont'd ext. cab?
Regarding extended cab pickups it is a case of supply and demand. Not enough demand to keep producing them. My theory is once folks discovered how much more practical a 4 door Crew Cab is they never wanted to go back to an extended cab!

Re: Discont'd ext. cab?
If I were looking for a budget used car to get me by until I could afford something better I would probably get a Toyota or Honda. I know folks putting 300,000 miles on them. Of course it is scary when you buy any high mileage car because you don't know if they were taken care of or not when it comes to oil changes, etc but I would rather buy a high mileage Toyota or Honda than any other make. I am not saying that because I am some kind of Toyota or Honda homer because i have never owned a Honda (other than a VTX1300 motorcycle) and bought my first Toyota only about 4 years ago (2013 Toyota Avalon).

Re: Discont'd ext. cab?
Japanese cars have pricey parts. Now that is coming from a mechanic. If you don't work on your own vehicle then you need to pay for overpriced parts and pray that you get a competent mechanic to install them. I'm a Ford owner, Lincoln Town Car and Mercury Marquis. I like Blue Oval and use OEM parts or high grade replacements. Even with OEM you still turn out better than OEM Japanese parts.
