Vista
The company I work for handles customer service for many different credit card companies. Because of the nature of the business it has to make sure it is up to date on programs, security, operating systems, etc. I asked today if there are any plans to switch to Vista and was told under no circumstances. It appears that many companies are refusing to accept this latest version of Windows. In my opinion Vista is going to go the route of M.E. before it's all said and done.

The problem is is that every new OS from MicroPuke is full of holes that just have to be patched up.
The other problem is a lack of drivers...so the IT department upgrades to Vista and finds most of it's hardware is useless or buggy...then there is the software. It's probably too early for most companies to be upgrading to Vista

They're already working on its replacement. It's three years out at this point in the timeline (everyone involved in project work knows most of the time initial estimates are pretty generous... it's probably closer to five years out)
By the time the replacement is ready, most companies will probably still be on XP.

Someone told me that Dell has changed what it's offering on consumer pcs. For a time they were offering Vista exclusively and they have gone back to offering both it and XP. When I bought my computers, early this year, I had to go through Dell Small Business because it was the only way I could buy a new computer from Dell without being forced into Vista.

Well I for one as a customer will REFUSE to switch to vista....it is very buggy (MORE than win xp) more bloated than even xp and more expensive than xp....three reasons why I am staying away from it.
Side note......a guy I know that works at a computer store said he got in a copy of vista to try out and he has a pretty hefty computer. He said vista loaded OK, but when he tried to play his usual game of solitare....HE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MEMORY TO EVEN PLAY SOLITARE 3D! LOL! And he had OVER a gig of RAM memory and a very good CPU chipset and motherboard. And a very good vdeo card.
But vista is more of a 3D operating system than anything else....providing eye candy...when all you need is a stupid operating system. It is the OS itself that is causing a lot of the problems, because it takes so many rescources just to run the OS! Which I think is absolutely stupid.
Why would I want a computer that takes all my rescources just to run the dumb OS, when I could use that power to run programs that need your CPU power worse?
Like I said....I have talked to him and from the way he describes his computer...it is WAY within vista specs....yet he couldn't even play solitare!
He finally took it off and went back to xp!
There is a reason that Microsoft is announcing a new OS so soon....they have already seen what a flop vista is becoming. It isevident in their sales. They have to do something and fast. People are already calling vista another win ME....which many believe to be one of the worst OS that Microsoft has made.....ever!

I have to admit it isn't much of an upgrade.
I bought a notebook with it on it.
The notebook has a Core2Duo 2.0 ghz proc, 2 GB of RAM. Vista was NO faster on boot up or in tasks than my old desktop Celeron 2 ghz proc with 1 GB of RAM and XP. I booted them up side by side. Most of the time, the desktop came up first.
When I say boot up, I mean to the point where all the stuff stops loading. And this was with the desktop with XP still having all the programs installed and notebook with Vista having nothing installed.

Haven't upgraded and ain't gonna do it! I resisted installing the beta and have resisted installing the upgrade. The only way I will get Vista is when I buy a new laptop next year........maybe.

lol....even THAT they did not really develop....they got it from someone else.
BTW on XP and probably on Vista, you can turn off all the eye candy to save some resources
