TrumpCare Appears to be Headed for Defeat
As of now, it appears TrumpCare (AHCA) will be going down in flames. Yesterday, it was about 25 votes short of passage in the House. Just a few minutes ago, multiple sources were saying that number has RISEN to 34. This is after Mr. Art of the Deal himself met with House Reps yesterday and threatened that if they didn't vote for the bill, they would lose their re-election. This is after the Freedom Caucus met with Trump at the WH. This is also after the centrist Tuesday Group met with Pence. And it's after Bannon and Priebus went to the House to meet with Reps about the bill.
Look, this is a terrible, no good, awful, horrible, bad bill. Trump and Ryan couldn't put enough lipstick on this pig to make it look good enough for Reps to hold their nose and vote for it.
Trump thought he could use his famed negotiating, but that failed. So he tried to bully and threaten them, but that also has failed. Both Trump and Ryan mess up badly by rushing this. There's no need to rush. They should have met with Drs, medical insurance companies and patients to come up with a better comprehensive plan.
Honestly, I can't blame Trump much on this. This disaster falls directly on Paul Ryan and the GOP leadership. They've had YEARS to come up with a better plan, but instead made bummercare even worse and renamed it.
They should be ashamed to be associated with this bill.
I'm very happy this bill appears to be going down in flames.

Good lesson for Trump here. Now we'll see if the conservatives in the House can force a vote on the same repeal bill that Obama vetoes six times. Ryan will try to block such a vote. If it went to Trump and he vetoed it, he would be hurt badly.
One good thing that comes out of this is it is putting Rand Paul in the spotlight again.

And it's putting the GOP leadership in a bad position. I'm not a fan of either McConnell or Ryan. Both are entrenched in the DC machine, which is why this bill wasn't an improvement at all on obamacare.
I agree with Trump on moving on if the bill doesn't pass. Make Congress go back to the drawing board and start all over.

Why does it need to be "fixed"? Just repeal the stupid, illegal, unconstitutional, unbiblical monstrosity and move on.
All this talk of needing to "fix" it is a scam, its what they planned all along in the beginning.
Problem - Reaction - Solution. And one step closer to more enslavement. Sad.

What did we have before? Private enterprise. Govt has a job of punishing fraud, not managing our medical plans for us.

Re: TrumpCare Appears to be Headed for Defeat
Let's face it. Trump was right in letting the Legislative Branch do its job, but he backed a BAD BILL! He thus deserves the rebuke he got! We must DEMAND that Congress send Trump the same FULL REPEAL bill that was sent to Obama countless times!

Re: TrumpCare Appears to be Headed for Defeat
I believe the essential question is: What is the role of government in our lives? It's my understanding that the constitution sought to limit the role of government. I suppose if the majority of citizens want socialized medicine that is what we will have. But it will come at the price of liberty.....
“I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.” - Ronald Reagan
“Politicians are interested in the health of the people like predators savor live prey.”
― A.E. Samaan
"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." - Thomas Jefferson
"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." - Thomas Jefferson
"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson
We could go on and on with quotes from historical figures warning us about the dangers of government.

Re: TrumpCare Appears to be Headed for Defeat
the people I work with are loving being able to cover their kids while they go thru college even though they are hating the new premiums/deductibles.
there are a few people I have talked to from church, very low income people, who have been able to afford health care for the first time.
the dems were crafty, they added a few things that people really like, just enough to hook people.
also setting up it so the real costs didn't kick in under the Obama administration.

Yes - camel's nose under the tent......the rest of the camel will soon follow......the Federal Income Tax started the same way.
"Charity Hospitals" worked great for years in the state of Louisiana (my state). There are other ways of helping people besides forcing them to participate in a confiscatory tax system.
This quote has been attributed to Thomas Jefferson: "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have."
