Rubio: Legalize Illegal Immigrants So They Can Fund Border Security

“We need to register them as soon as possible, not just to keep the problem from getting worse, but we’re going to require them to pay a fine, and that’s the money that we are going to use to pay for the border security,” Rubio, said, according to York. “If we don’t get that fine money from the people that have violated our immigration laws, then the American taxpayer is going to have to pay for border security.”

Rubio, a prominent Republican on the Senate’s Gang of Eight with Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), said if illegal immigrants are not legalized, “we’re going to end up borrowing money like we do now for 40 cents out of every dollar, and I want to prevent that from happening.”

Report: McCain, Rubio Got Fox News On Board For Immigration Reform

The story, written by Ryan Lizza, indicated that Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) had discussions with "top hosts" at the conservative cable news network, including Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto, all of whom are " now relatively sympathetic to the Gang’s proposed bill." It also quotes McCain as saying that News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch and Fox News chairman Roger Ailes are big advocates of immigration reform.

O'Reilly interviewed Rubio last week, urging the Florida Republican to come to him if anyone opposes the proposal.

I'm sure the issue with Marco is Amnesty.

But, maybe you've read that Mitt Romney..... He was your guy, right?

Since Romney announced in January that he would not run for the White House again, he and Rubio have had at least two lengthy phone calls in which Romney encouraged and mentored the 43-year-old Florida senator about the political landscape, according to a Romney associate.

The Gang of Eight is going to come up for him. He and Walker have both flip-flopped on immigration. It just looks like pandering. I would suspect they want to crowd the field to push out the only true Tea Party Conservative - Ted Cruz.

Listened to Marco Rubio's speech at the Council of Foreign Relations.

He reminded me that even though I do like to listen to him when interviewed about various issues, I do not like to hear him give a speech.

He always "reads" his speech and it makes me feel bored with him. He also acts like his mouth is so dry, I want to hand him a bottle of water.

I agree with this assessment I read concerning him saying he has more experience than anyone on foreign relations - "He is comfortable answering questions on the subjects, but, so far, he's been largely non committal on some of the specifics."
