I think the negativity is due to religious exploitation that can be compared to the fleshly appeal of pornography, the lottery, etc.
People are looking for any means to make themselves more comfortable and to avoid pain, suffering and TRUE sacrifice. Religion feeds into those desires, but because much of religion has been disingenuous, people have realized the returns on their efforts goes unrewarded, promises of success and wealth have gone unrewarded.
I believe post-modern revival is going to be a revival of returning to the roots of Christianity, spirituality and NOT religiousity.
Today's religion across the board is absent from the Bible and this is why it is failing and failing hard. America needs to return to the Holy Word of God as being sovereign and not just explained away as an irrelevant history book.
Give me a break!
