We have an imperial president. Just this morning, news was released that yet again obama would make an end run around Congress and raise minimum wage for Federal workers, which is dangerously close, if not actually, a violation of Constitution powers.
Since obama signed his signature healthcare bill into law, he has made numerous changes to the law without authorization from Congress.
On this mornings news, Valerie Jarrett said obama's SOTU address tonight would outline his plan to implement his ideas into law without using Congress. Several major news headlines blared out yesterday, a warning to Congress that obama will rule by fiat, without Congress, to get what he wants into law.
So when will Congress get the courage to stand up to this president and demand he follow the Constitution?
This is not just a Republican issue, this certainly involves Democrats because a precedent is being set here. If the Democrats allow obama to arrogantly go around Congress and create law through his own paper and pen, they will have no ground to stand on when a Republican president does the same.
Were this a Republican President, there would already be Articles of Impeachment filed and Impeachment hearings scheduled. msnbc would be screaming about presidential abuse of power. But nothing about this Democratic President trampling over the Constitution and passing by Congress.
Sooner or later a Republican will be President, and this abuse of powers by obama will come back to haunt them. And for the Senate, the nuclear option Harry Reid imposed could spell trouble for them if they lose the Senate in 2014. I hope they do. I would love to see Reid and msnbc try to explain why they were against something when Bush was President, then flip flopped to be for it last year with a Democratic Congress, only to flip flop again and be against it should the Republicans win back the Senate in 2014.
