Snake story.....
Do you ever have things happen to you that just really give you the creeps?
Today Mom and I went to the grocery store. Before we got out to the highway, we saw this snake in the road. I wasn't really sure what kind of snake it was, but to me the only kind of good snake is a dead one. We backed up and were going to run over the snake. I backed up over it, then pulled forward again. The snake disappeared. I thought I had missed it, and maybe it was off the edge of the road in the grass. So Mom rolled down her window and looked. The snake was nowhere to be found. We just figured I missed it, and it had quickly gotten away.
We went to the grocery store, got out and went in the store for about 30 minutes. We came back out and got in the van. We drove over to Dollar General and went in the store, came back about 15 minutes later and got back in the van to drive home. It was pouring down rain on the way back, so we took our time getting back home. It probably took us 30 minutes or so to get back home. We took Mom's groceries into her house, then I got back in the van and started home.
All along the way I had this weird feeling, and kept looking in my rear view mirror. My mother and I live about a mile apart-- and I was almost to my house. There is one stop sign that I have to stop at. I passed the parking lot of the church, and there was nothing in the road. I got about 10 ft past the parking lot, and stopped at the stop sign, and looked in my rear view mirror again. Right in the center of the road, there was this SNAKE coiled up... I put the van in reverse and backed up over the snake. Then I pulled up over the snake again. (Repeated this about 5 times)
The snake had apparently been wrapped up in something under my van all this time... because it was the SAME type of snake that we'd seen earlier that vanished.
I don't know what kind of snake it was... it looked kind of like a copperhead from the van.. I wasn't going to get out and look at it close enough to see what kind of snake it was. There just seems to be thing thing about copperhead snakes around here finding me, and making sure that I see them. (Do I sound paranoid???--- I HATE snakes!!!!!!)
I was just so thankful that thing didn't manage somehow to crawl up into my van when the door was opened and we were putting in the groceries or something..... or to be there for us to step on when we stepped out of the van any of the times we got out of it.
I'll probably have nightmares about this for months.......
