Adults Only Church
This is an excellent idea!! I am sure that many who follow the "I WILL always there when the doors are open!" principle may not be too keen on it though.
Wisconsin church offers adults-only services for sex offenders
Published March 21, 2012
MADISON, Wis. – A Wisconsin church has started providing adults-only services so that sex offenders can worship without violating their parole.
The First Congregational United Church of Christ in Madison started the biweekly services late last month as part of its prison ministry project, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
First Congregational's Rev. Jerry Hancock said the church was approached by a probation officer last year with the idea to provide a service for sex offenders who cannot be where children are present.
Local psychologist Jim Gerndt told the State Journal that the adults-only aspect eliminates an environment that could be problematic for the recovering sex offender and Hancock stressed it isn't a "sex-offender service."

Re: Adults Only Church
It's a sensible solution, IMO.

I agree too! The sex offender cannot go to church with children, and so this would provide them an opportunity to worship.

I hope it works and the sex offenders truly seek out deliverance.

Re: Adults Only Church
Me thinks it would take a certain amount of courage to start a special adults only service, so hats off to them for facing the stigma associated with ministering to sex offenders head on. Even if very few offenders take advantage of it, many will no longer be able to say "we had no place to go!".

Re: Adults Only Church
A few things to consider:
1) Will offenders have to worry about their safety? Someone may target them in the church parking lot.
2) Will paritioners have to worry about their children when probation is over, assuming the ex offenders attend regular services?

Ans to 1) I'm hoping the church will have ushers that would specifically be trained (however much or little is needed) and would likely escort them in and around the church, to and from the parking lot for their own safety. Just my guess...
Ans to 2) I'm sure there would be extra eyes watching during and after much counseling. At least I would hope so...

I'm not saying that this would never be a problem but the probation times for sex offenders if usually extraordinarily long (as it should be).
