"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I prefer enthusiastic preachers who don't scream at me. You can be entusiastic, interesting, and more importantly informative and a blessing without screaming.

You seem to think it is an "either / or" situation! I have heard too many good preachers in Pentecost who don't scream to think it is a must to be "enthusiastic".

If that is your cup of tea more power to you but I can guarantee you for every person that eats up the screaming it causes just as many to tune out.

I would also like to point out I am in no way impuning this preacher's integrity, etc. He is probably a great person. I am just commenting on his preaching style. The first time I heard of him he was greeting the congregation at a conference (thank heavens not preaching) and from the instant he got behind the microphone he was screaming full blast. Did not even build up to it. I looked at my wife stunned and she started laughing and told me who he was and that was what he did. She grew up in the state he pastors in and knows him.

CC1 you need to start appreciating the screamers at our age. If we fall asleep they will wake us back up.
