What is the primary purpose of praying?

Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945

Re: The Primary Purpose of Prayer is...

To many people the sum total of their communion with their God is the Sunday night glossolalia. But they know the oneness doctrine, so they know HIM.

Great point! Does it matter more that we are just "praying", than what we are saying when we pray?

Re: The Primary Purpose of Prayer is...

the primary purpose imo is to petition God, secondarily to commune with him.

(What we are saying is what matters. I don't make more petitions for myself than I do for others. )

Prayer isn't as difficult as we think it is. Talk to him. HE is wanting and waiting for us to speak to HIM. You don't have to get into pentecostal glory mode, hollering at the top of your lungs.

Indeed. I did not mean to exclude to obvious. But what are we saying when we communicate?
