The only thing it did here is repave some roads that were fine to begin with. Big deal.
No matter how hard they blow their horn or their media lackeys blow it for them... the government cannot create jobs in the private sector. All corporate bailouts do is keep companies afloat, it doesn't increase the demand for their product or service, thus it doesn't result in rehires or new hires. Nor doesn't halt layoffs where there is not enough work to support a workforce.
Small businesses didn't benefit from any bailout because they didn't get any. The ONLY benefit I have seen for small businesses, at least in CT was a program to allow companies to go to a reduced workweek with unemployment picking up the slack days. That did result in a few not getting layed off who otherwise might have.
But the salvation of the economy? not even close. All it did was create a tax burden we will never get out from under.
