59% Want Military Courts; 55% Say Keep Gitmo
A Qunnippiac Poll has 59% of Americans want terrorists tried before military tribunals. A CBS Poll says 55% want Gitmo to remain the place to keep captured terrorists.
The most prudent thing Obama could do is to say, "It was wrong to try to close Gitmo. It was a mistake to crimialize terrorists. We're changing course. We will totally revamp our approach to terrorism. I wise man changes his mind, a fool never does."
He would score huge political points for honesty and humility. I would be shocked if he did it.
