Anyone ever been to the deaf seminar in MO (March 12-13 in St Louis)? Is it any good? Are there any coming up in MO, KS, AR, OK, or NE that anyone is aware of?
I don't know of any in your area. I have been out of the UPC for a while but I can ask around if you want. Send me a pm to remind me and I will try to find out some info. I know a few people in deaf ministry.
My wife is deaf so I have been to a few of those seminars years ago in Jackson, MS and in Tioga, Louisiana.
One thing that the UPC does well is their deaf ministry. I now interpret for my wife during the preaching because there are very few people at our church who know sign language well enough to interpret a service.
It doesn't need to be a UPCI seminar or conference... I'm not UPC either, so as long as they'll let me come no matter my affiliation or lack thereof I'd probably be fine with it. I'd just like the experience. I am not certified but hope to certify by this fall if I can get enough interaction with others who sign and additional experience. I even saw a YouTube about Deaf Day at Disney, and thought something like that would be fun if it were a little closer to home.
