Matt Chandler, Jesus Wants the Rose

Pretty good video clip.

Matt Chandler, the pastor of The Village Church in Dallas. Some of my family goes to this church and I have learned a lot from Him.

Hard to judge his experience without being there to hear the preacher with the rose.

Well, I think many of us have been to services like that. The point is that Jesus wants the sinner.

I think he gave a pretty good summation.

God receives more glory when He takes a broken rose and restores it than He does a rose that doesn't need restoration.

Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

The whole message is interesting. He is dealing with shepherds and the unregenerate sheep. Sometimes it is very hard for those who have grown up in the church to understand their need for God.

I glanced through his church's website a few months ago. It's strange hearing a Calvinist preach like that, don't you think?

I don't know. I didn't know he was a Calvinist until I heard this message. My cousin goes to his church and I have been listening to him for a couple years now. Then people started saying I was a Calvinist and I didn't even know what it meant but I found out it lined up with a lot of my beliefs.

Calvinism is making a comeback in the southern baptist organization from what I hear. I have two other cousins who are in seminary right now and their views are different than the typical Southern Baptist.

Wow....I'll let everyone else argue about Calvinism and the need to "judge", but that was incredible. I cried. Thanks for posting that.

You should reread the posts. No one is arguing.

I agree God wants the those rose part, but my point is none of was there to hear the ministers message that he said he sat through. So we can't make a judgement on the sermen by his words alone.
